The Collar Chain

From Friends of Greyhounds celebration on October 10, 2010 celebrating the adoption of the 1000th greyhound. The chain of 1000 collars represent the 1000 dogs that have been adopted.

We keep all the kennel collars of our greyhounds and a couple times a year we have BBQs or parties and bring out the chains with all the kennel collars of all the adopted dogs.

Some of the original collars were lost or dogs came in with no collar at all and we use a wooden bone with the dog’s name on it.  Most of the collars hang down but a few are buckled closed.  Those are the names of dogs who have died.  Those dogs are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.
