John’s Happy Tales Report
9/21/15 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The Fog Kennel.

Another weekend by the boards and now only two weeks left until the annual (since we did it last year, we can now call it annual) pool party for the pooches at Quiet Waters Park on Saturday afternoon, three o’clock on the 3rd of October. We’re calling it Barktoberfest, or maybe actually they are. Two day party at the park, all kinds of animal groups and vendors, we will have a booth there on both Saturday and Sunday, and Lynne, our legendary collar lady, will be there for sure. Our private party for the hounds only will be on Saturday from 3 o’clock until 4 o’clock, which is plenty enough time for them to have a lot of fun and wear themselves out so they sleep well on Saturday night. It was a rousing success last year, the hounds had a greyt time, and even the humans got into it, wet and wild and a lot of space to run without worry of deep water or escape. Come for the party or come early and see the other groups and vendors, we will have a booth there and Michelle will be glad to have some company if you wish to help her man the booth.

Over the weekend we had some strange football games and our gathering at the Flamingo Road Nursery on Flamingo Road, just south of I-595. We were there early, it was still too warm for my taste, but the barbeque was great and we enjoyed the company of those that were there. It’s still greyt to see old friends and share stories and get the updates, some good, some not so good, on how everyone is doing. Personally, I can’t wait for the weather to turn cooler, the nursery is a great place to gather with the hounds, there’s seating, food, and shade available, the nursery itself is a great place to walk around in and there’s a Farmer’s Market and store to explore, when the weather cools off a bit for me.

Since the new news is scarce, we can rehash some of the old news for those who missed it. The baby greyhound we acquired a couple months ago turns out to be a baby whippet, but he’s living in a nice home with other grey and whippet siblings, and plenty of room to roam, so his story has a happy ending so far. Mr. Gee finally got together with Chester in their new home with the new fence and at last report all was going well there. One of the two new puppies is already in her new home, and the other, Minnie Me, is reportedly doing very well and has a home waiting for her as soon as she’s ready to go out on her own.

On the kennel front, I know of no new arrivals or departures this week. We have Charlie, Max, Otto, Kingsley, and Rocky available on the guy’s side, and Lady, Lexi, Poochie, Pepper, and Wasabi available on the girl’s side. Poochie is eight years old, just lost her loving home through no fault of her own and is looking for a new home, she is a very loving lady, well adapted to home living, eight years old, but will unlimited love to give to someone who brings her into their life. She has been living contentedly for years and just doesn’t understand why she was left behind, hopefully someone will bring this bundle of love into their home and be able to keep her for the duration, that’s all she’s asking for. So that’s my story for this time. Thanks to all for coming out on Sunday, it was great to see your animals and of course, you also. Looking forward to Barktoberfest in a couple weeks, stay safe, have a greyt week.
