John’s Happy Tales Report
6/27/16 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The FoG Kennel.

First order of business this week is hound safety. Next Monday is July 4th, and that means celebration of our nation’s independence. It also means that there will be plenty of fireworks. In many cases fireworks and dogs don’t mix. Please be sure to have your hound secure at all times during the day and night. One bang, one bolt, and there could be a major problem; even inside many of them are afraid, so please consider your animal’s safety whatever your plans for the holiday are.

Denim

We are coming to the end of June, and we have one hound left in the Black Dog Month Sale. Denim is a beautiful black girl, very well behaved, and it would be greyt if we could find her a home by next Thursday. It would be greyt for the adopters too, there’s a fifty dollar discount from the regular $225 adoption fee, so she’s only $175 and you will get a goody bag full of greyhound goodies to go with her. So if you’d like to put a hound in your house and an extra fifty bucks back in your pocket for the holiday, contact Michelle or Jerry and they can arrange a meeting with you, at our place or yours and at your convenience. We also have eight other lovely adoptables that are waiting for their forever homes, so if Denim is not the one, there are still plenty to choose from.

In other news, Akira has been confirmed and reconfirmed as mighty fine, smart, well behaved, and terrific so far, so it looks like he’s going to do ok in his new home. His human is Steve Ginsberg, who has Charlie’s Canine College. Just a little mention in case you are looking or know of someone looking for a dog trainer. Also a little shout out and a big thank you to Mike Griesemer, from Groom Waggin’. He came by and caught up the nail clipping in the kennel. With that many dogs, nail clipping gets away from you fast. Mike and Mary are long time adopters and we highly recommend Mike’s work. He is a mobile groomer which means he comes to you, and you can check him out at www.groomwaggin.com. We have long supported our alumni after adoption, and we appreciate and support our adopters, especially the ones that mutually support us. The greyhound community is made up of many wonderful and unique people.

In kennel news, Ms. Vicky has her cast removed. She has received a lot of attention already, but she will not be available for adoption and on restriction, no running, until after her August 3rd doctor visit. She is still listed as a maybe for cat tolerance; most likely it will depend on the cat. Cat tolerant hounds are not in stock at the current moment, but we have two new arrivals which might turn out to be. We have one boy and one girl, both five years old, and both brindle. Michelle needs to rename them, if you have any suggestions, you can contact her. Their current names are Mercy and Ticket. Ticket is the girl and Mercy is the boy. She’s looking for new names that sound similar to their old names so we don’t confuse them totally, if you have any ideas, send them in. Billy, Andy, Max, Asia, Harry, Ironman, Denim, and Vicky are all waiting for you to check them out, either at our place or yours, so don’t just think about it, act on it, it could be a life changing event for both of you.

We have a new section on the website called the Greyhound Resources. It’s full of the practical useful information that we used to exchange when we gathered at the old kennel. Please make sure to check it out, there’s lots of ideas, links, and reminders that are very useful. We also plan on adding to it as we go along, so check it periodically, and if you have any ideas for it, don’t hesitate to contact Michelle. Don’t forget, you can contact Michelle or Jerry at the website, fogdogs@comcast.net, or give them a call, for any up to the minute information on any of our dogs, or any questions that you might have. And, last but not least, remember, it’s summer, dogs and rolled up windows do not mix, please check your back seat before you leave your car parked in the sun. Have a safe and happy week and holiday from all of us here at the kennel.
