Monday, June 13th at 6 P.M., that is the day, and don’t you forget it. We will be having a gathering at the Beverly Hills Café, located at 5544 S. Flamingo Road, in Davie/Cooper City. We’ve done it before and we’re doing it again. We will have the outside area reserved for us, the food is usually very good, and all we need is cooperation from the weather. This is not a fund raiser, just a little get together hopefully to see some of our old friends and catch up on the gossip. So if you can, please stop by, you don’t have to eat, just sit and gab with a coke and let the hounds socialize a bit. That’s actually two weeks from tonight.

In udder news, most of the cows have come home safely. As previously reported Chloe now has an app. and should be delivered to her new home by next weekend. She’s going to live with fellow kennelmate Faber, who was adopted a couple weeks ago. All went well with him, so now it’s her turn. We wish both of them and their humans nothing but the best for their happily ever after. Asia is living in a foster home which might turn into a foster failure. If she can get the butterflies out of her stomach, she has a greyt chance make it her forever home. We’re rootin’ for you Asia, you go girl. Max and Akira are back in the kennel and ready for adoption. Akira is back for a while, her foster family is on vacation, and Max ran his mouth too much or something, so he’s looking for a fresh start.

Special thanks to the staff of Welleby Vet Center, especially Joanie, who called us when someone brought in a greyhound that was running wild in the streets of Oakland Park Boulevard, almost totally naked and against traffic, but not drunk. Fortunately Michelle recognized the collar and the dog and she was quickly reunited with her humans. They had just moved to a new house and she got out. Please make sure you have a tag on your dog’s collar. Microchips are good too, but make sure the information is registered, kept up to date and accurate with them also. Cellphone numbers on tags are also excellent. We also did last Saturday at our favorite Pet Supermarket on E. Sunrise Blvd., met lots of people and brought back 7 cases of donated food. Thank you Pet Supermarket for always making our weekends just a little bit better.

We still have our ‘Black Dog Month’ going on all through June. There is a fifty dollar discount if you adopt a black dog along with a nice goody bag full of, what else?, goodies for your hound. Each black bag will be a little different, but they will all start with six months’ worth of heartworm prevention, plus a toy, vet wrap, poop bags, and other useful items for your new adoptee. Abra, Denim, and Chris are three of our black dogs that come to mind immediately, and they may have acquired more since my last check. Remember, the ‘black dog syndrome’ is very real, and for every breed, not just the greyhounds, so please give them some consideration; they are all beautiful regardless of what they look like on the outside. Have a greyt week and keep June 13th in mind, we love to see our alumni and old friends.
