John’s Happy Tales Report
4/20/15 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The Fog Kennel.

We are back on line, testing, testing. Actually we were never off line, maybe just a little off, but I had no useful news to report. Tonight I am bursting with excitement, or maybe too much dinner, but anyway the excitement is real. I just found out that Daisy has been adopted, or actually, has an adoption application to one of our most beautiful families in the whole dogdom of the FoG. One of my most favorite greyhounds of all time, Sony, aka Sunny, lived with Joy, his human, and David, his dog brother, and Honey, his dog sister. The whole family was just plain good. Good people, good dogs, good racers, good looking, good behaved, just plain good all around. Then my Sony got sick suddenly and passed away. We were all devastated, as we are when one of the family up and dies on us. I can’t speak for his racing career, but I can smile knowing that Sony had a beautiful retired life for his time allotted. He had good food, shelter, water, a greyt brother and sister, and he was loved and loved in return. Joy said that when the time was right, she would have another retiree to have a trio again, and I guess the time has come. I don’t know Daisy, but I am sure she will realize what she has gotten into and will give her new family many years of love and devotion.

That news made my week. It is the only news, but it will do for now. This coming Wednesday is Earth Day, April is Adopt a Greyhound Month, so why not combine the two and recycle a greyhound for Earth Day. Does that make sense? A little bit excited here. Wait till Chris and Julie hear the news, my whole family is very attached to Joy’s trio. According to my sources, we have four dogs available for adoption. Max, our ten year old senior who’s looking for someone to spend his twilight years with and understands that he won’t be with us for the long haul. Rocky is at the other end of the spectrum, he’s five years old and has as much energy as a five year old human after a couple Hershey bars. He loves people, is indecently good looking, and may be a bit conceited about it, but he is a lover and like a five year old, he will wrap himself around you looking for protection and love. Kingsley is a puppy, he’s very shy, possibly because he’s such a little guy. He is young and seeks a lot of security. Check out his picture, but be careful, you just may fall in love at first sight. Fancy is the latest addition, she’s a just arrived and I know nothing about her except that she’s black and cute. We are expecting a couple new additions in the very near future, so be sure to check our website for all the information, and if that’s not enough, you can call us and talk to Michelle or Jerry.

Last and certainly not least, the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival is this coming weekend. The hours are Friday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. All the booths will be along the street. Our booth is at the playground between Atlantic and 2nd Street. There will be no parking on the beach side and everyone will have to use the trolley system from the mainland. We’re working to get a spot for the Van so we can rotate dogs in and out of the air conditioning, but even that is not for sure. You can see the layout at www.pompanobeachseafoodfestival.com. The website also has all the information on the performing artists. Hope you can make it and if you do, be sure to stop by the booth and say hello. We can also still use a few volunteers if you like, come on out and meet and greet with us. Contact Michelle or Jerry and let them know when you are going to be there. Ok, we’re up to date on all things good and bad to the best of my knowledge. Have a greyt rest of the week and come on out to the seafood festival, there’s plenty to see and do and even if you are not a seafood fan, there’s always us to entertain you.
