John’s Happy Tales Report
3/22/16 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The FoG Kennel.

Spring has sprung, the annual Global Pet Expo is history, and as usual, we have had a small measure of success from the event. Now all of the dogs will be sleeping with nice, soft, comfortable beds, which is a first in a while. So the inmates are set, and they can await their forever homes in well-deserved comfort. Sometimes smaller is better, it’s easier to keep up ten beds than fifty something. So the weekend trip was a complete success.

Happy Harry

Happy Harry

We also had some dog movement as well as the standard bowel. Happy Harry managed to have it both ways. He went out to a really nice home, and then the human got a work schedule change that would have left him alone over ten hours daily, which is unacceptable for all the humans and dogs involved, so he has returned. Home Alone was a cute movie but it doesn’t work for greyhounds for long hours. So Harry is available again, with a little home experience under his belt and has vowed to keep his bags packed and ready in case he goes out this week, so we wish him luck. Sierra was delivered this past week, to live with Iron Dog or vice versa, and Autumn is in her new home and doing well. We also have three new arrivals, Denim is a beautiful retired four year old girl and Akira and Sam are two three year old males. They are already on Pet Finder and you can contact the kennel, Michelle or Jerry and get all the information on them, and probably even arrange for a house visit if you live in the area.

The annual Horses and Hounds is coming up on April 3rd, so join us if you can, and we will be at Pet Supermarket again this weekend, the details are on the website, but it’s usually ten till two but I don’t know at this moment if it’s Saturday or Sunday. The kennel is smaller, but the workload is still considerable, and we can always use help around the kennel. Michelle and Jerry are approaching the ‘Golden Years’ and no longer can sprint like they did in the days of yesteryear. Those of you that might have some spare time, or if you are a student looking to fulfill your service hours, what better place to be than with our inmates. No, it’s not all scoop and shovel, there is plenty of work to be done besides the physical hound work, such as paper work and other office tasks that take up Michelle’s valuable time, and so any and all help is always greytly appreciated. You can call Michelle and probably set up a time that is convenient for your time of availability. Michelle and Jerry will be waiting alongside their respective phones, breathlessly waiting for your call. Well, maybe not breathlessly, but any help is both needed and appreciated, especially if you live in the Sunrise area. Ok, that’s most of the information up to the moment. Have a greyt week, don’t bite anyone.
