John’s Happy Tales Report
3/14/16 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The FoG Kennel.

Highlight of the previous week was the meet and greet at the fabulous Pet Supermarket on E. Sunrise Boulevard. With their 10% donation program we netted seven cases of dog food and a couple ten pound boxes of milk bones for the inmates. A few of our alumni stopped by to liven up the gathering and a good time was had by all. This weekend the former baby wolf holders will be in Orlando for the big pet fair, we’ll see what kinds of goodies they come back with this time.

Happy Harry

Happy Harry

We have some continued activity on the adoption front. Autumn has an application, but won’t be going to her new home until next weekend. Her new dad works for Natur-vet and will be representing his company at the event in Orlando and will be taking her when he gets back home. Uno, also known as Where’s One Eye, has been officially adopted by our webmaster, a wonderful ending for Uno, as he gets a well-deserved retirement home to spend the remainder of his golden years in, along with other greyt siblings, as Jerry apparently tries to reclaim his old nickname of ‘Sixdog Jerry’. Seal has been taken off the home trial list and has been officially adopted also. He has a nice family and two fine girls to walk his neighborhood with. It’s rumored that there will be two new arrivals coming in next weekend, more on that when I find out more on that. Steve is doing well in his new home, he has a cat sibling, but more importantly to him, a greyhound sister and a big, big yard to run around with her in.

We’re starting work around the kennel with the various construction projects. The volunteer firemen (professional firemen – volunteers at the kennel) will work on the kennel improvements. Michelle and Jerry want to thank them for their efforts and thank one of our long time donors for footing the bill for the materials. The work is slow because they can only do so much with limited space for the dogs to move to, but little by little it will get done. Ok, this is all the news that’s fit to print at the moment.

Darla

Darla

You can contact either Michelle or Jerry to find out all the information on the dogs we currently have available. My list, as it stands at the moment, includes Happy Harry, who is a big dark brindle. He is young in age and spirit. He likes to talk, eat, bark and wag his tail, but not necessarily in that order. If you live in Kansas, Texas, or West Virginia, Harry is not available for adoption, as he is wanted for assault and battery after doing a cat scan. Just kidding, he really isn’t, but he has shown to be not cat tolerant, so if you have a feline in your residence, you may want to pass on Harry. Unless of course, you don’t like or want the cat. Are we allowed to say that? Probably not, it will be edited out no doubt. We also have Darla, a beautiful little black girl. Darla is extremely shy but she will come around in time. That’s ok, my Diffy is afraid of his own shadow, but he is a tremendous dog, so don’t hold that against them, shy dogs make excellent pets too. We also have Billy. Mr. Billy snapped at (he says he beat the dogfood out of a little yapper) a small dog that aggravated him by wrapping him up in his retractable leash. He is a gentle and loving dog, as long as he’s not placed in a situation where another unrestrained smaller canine can irritate him. Otis is a handsome brindle boy and Ironman is a tall white dog with brindle patches. Both are happy, healthy and ready for a real home. I don’t know them yet, but as previously stated, you can contact the kennel and get up to the minute information on any of our hounds.

We’re half way through March, Happy St. Patrick’s Day to those of you who celebrate it. Will be back next week with more information on new arrivals, and don’t forget, we have the Horses and Hounds event coming up as well as the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival. Have a greyt week, give your hounds a hug from us.
