Asia

Asia

This is kennel blog 150, which means roughly three years ago I asked Michelle if I could write a paragraph or two about the weekly kennel happenings since she always seemed to be behind. Well, she got used to it, or more likely I got used to it and here we are three years later. Must be having fun because time has sure flown by.This past week saw advanced spring cleaning and the FoG dogs now have a freshly painted, spotless kennel in which to await their real homes, and more improvements are on the way, as well as some talk about the outside area too. All this and we still will bring the potential adoptees to your house to meet if you can’t get down to the kennel, which is open virtually 24/7 almost, just call or hit the website and you can set up a meeting at your adobe that’s good for both you and us.

With the new setup, we have four new arrivals and one incumbent hound at this moment as of my information, which is not always up to the minute or correct but I do the best I can with what I got. You can get real time (can we use that term for this?) up to the second information by calling either Jerry or Michelle. The new blood’s pictures have been posted already. We have the irrepressible Charlie; he will need someone special that wants a young, spirited, strong dog with a lot of energy. He is somewhat the opposite of our standard greyhound couch potato stereotype, but will make a fantastic pet for the right human. One new arrival girl, named Asia. She is barely two years old and is as beautiful as she is energetic. She had a fit when she first came to us and found out she wouldn’t be getting her own cell phone; she has to use the house land line just like all the rest of the hounds. Three new male arrivals to give Charles the competition he doesn’t need. Duke is barely two years old, fourteen years in human terms, and he snuck out back one afternoon with Jerry’s razor and practiced shaving. Now his five o’clock shadow is out of control and more resembles a midnight shadow. He’s not a big guy, but the black muzzle on his fawn body makes him look both very handsome and very intimidating. Inside information has it that he’s just a creampuff in real life. Seal is a two year old black youngster, the greyhound version of tall, dark, and handsome. Happy Harry is the latest arrival. He said he had an hour named after him, but I looked it up and Happy Hour is a term used for bars, it has nothing to do with our Harry. Outside of being somewhat of a chronic tall tale teller, Harry is a good looking dark brindle guy. We don’t know his age yet, we took a fake ID off him that said he was twenty one and there’s no way, but if he did happen to make it into a bar he would probably be a hit with the chicks, yes, he’s that good looking. Feel free to call or email Michelle or Jerry and they can give you all the information about any of our inmates, better yet, arrange to meet them in person, it’s easier than you think.

The trip to the FCM International Kindergarten in South Miami was a success, the kids loved the dogs and vice versa. One class of kids turned into about five, and we netted over two hundred cans of dog food. Thanks to the kids and the school staff for their support. This Saturday is party day, literally, at our favorite Pet Supermarket on E. Sunrise Blvd. Check the website for information, but we will have a booth or actually a tent, there will be contests for the dogs, we will be serving hotdogs and drinks, so stop on by if you get a chance. Also looming on the distant horizon, the 7th annual Horses and Hounds weekend and Pompano Seafood Festival, both in April, we have flyers on the website. We’re always looking for volunteers, so if you’d like to spend some time with the hounds and help Michelle and Jerry out, feel free to contact them, also, good for kids that have community hours to fill, especially in the Sunrise area, much easier for you Browardians to get there than Hialeah. Ok, another week, another dollar. Don’t forget, if you’re cold, chances are they are too. You know who we’re talking about. Have a greyt week and stay warm.
