John’s Happy Tales Report
2/13/17 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The FoG Kennel.

Carly

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone from the FoG Kennel hands and paws. Roses are red, Violets are blue, my dog can roach, what can yours do? Horses and Hounds is here. Our yearly granddaddy of them all for fundraisers has finally arrived. Next Sunday, 2:30 P.M. until 5 o’clock. The address is 11399 Piping Plover Road, Lake Worth, and all the information is available on the website. Silent auction, doggie show, horsie show, complimentary dog photos with donation, food, people, dogs, horses, more food, some flies, people you know, people you don’t know, dogs you know, dogs you don’t know, sun, fun, and all in a beautiful country ranch estate setting. Come on out if you can and catch some rays, no football or baseball to miss and hopefully plenty of Florida sunshine and fresh air. We will have some or all of our adoptables out there, mixing and mingling with the crowd. Look for Annie, Ralph, Bull Dust (yes, Bull Dust) and Carly, or any combination thereof, they will be the ones wearing the lei’s and strutting their stuff.

Ralph

Last weekend’s yard sale netted $326 dollars, but just as importantly, cleared out a lot of room in the storage, so we have deemed it a double success. Also, last week, we did the school meet and greet. It was hosted by the best (in our opinion for sure) pre-K and Kindergarten classes of Ms. Heidi Rodgers at FC Martin Elementary School, in Dade County. They wanted to meet our greyhounds and donate a hundred cans of dog food to celebrate their 100th day of the school year. We received 277 cans and vouchers of dog food of varying sizes, the total weight of the food was 251 pounds. A normal can of food averages 13.5 oz., so that worked out to 304 cans of dog food in actual volume. Not only did you triple your goal, but it proved to many of us old timers here, that Michelle does actually know how to do math. Your costumes were great, so were you all, thank you, each and every one of you, and of course Ms. Heidi, for making this an overwhelming success. Our doggies thank you from the bottom of their stomachs, and now you can say you’ve met the second fastest land animal on this earth, second only to the cheetah, up close and personal. Our racing greyhounds are also professional world class athletes, just like your Marlins, Dolphins, and Heat, but they don’t make a lot of money and they don’t charge $50 to have your picture taken with them, and I doubt seriously that Dragic, Stanton, Ajayi, or any of them will give you a big, wet, juicy lick-kiss, like our dogs do. Once again, a big thank you to Ms. Heidi and your classes, you’ve shown a great lesson to the kids, and from the kids, on what can happen if we all work together as one, it’s amazing what can be accomplished. BB (Dexter)

We currently have five adoptables in the kennel as of the moment. Dexter, aka, Bull Dust, Ralph, Annie, Carla, and just arrived, Miss Hannah, but there may even be more by the time this is printed, so to get the latest, up to the minuet and most information on our dogs, or anything concerning greyhounds and/or us, don’t hesitate to contact Michelle or Jerry through the website, phone, or smoke signal (if available in your area).

Miss Hannah and Dexter went to Boca today to be part of a photo shoot for Spotlight Magazine. Spotlight is a magazine that is distributed to the Royal Palm area residents. They also have one for the St. Andrews area, so if we have any FoG dogs there put in a good word for us. The Spotlight article is featuring the home of Shepherd and Hedda Lane and they just happen to have one of our alumni, named Sunny. They brought in our ‘extras’ so FoG could get mentioned in the article. A little good publicity never hurts. They were invited to H&H this weekend, so maybe they will drop in. Ok, that should just about cover all the news that’s fit to print. Have a lovely Valentine’s Day, a greyt rest of the week, and don’t forget the Horses and Hounds.
