Tis the season to be jolly or merry, so let us proceed with that. First and foremost we at the kennel, from President Jerry, Vice President Michelle, all the volunteers, and all the dogs, wish you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, or whatever you celebrate that is peace and love. We also would like you to have a Happy and most of all, a very Healthy 2015, and may it be filled with peace and love. Three of my old friends will be celebrating their birthdays this week, I hope that they are still alive and kicking and doing as well as they were the last time I heard from them. Red Moon Nurse, aka Nellie, was a senior lady, returned and found a beautiful home with a couple of our volunteers, who have since moved to Central Florida. She will be twelve on Christmas Day. Astar Bullwinkle, aka Moose, is a big guy, he left for Gold Coast and I hope he’s somewhere celebrating his third birthday on Christmas Day in his forever home. BS Bob, aka Bob, will celebrate his third birthday on Christmas Eve. He’s the only dog that I’ve ever known with a heartworm infection. He came to us sick, was nursed back to health and adopted out to a nice family last February. I hope he’s doing well and healthy and living the good life of a retired racer. It would be neat to know what happened to each and every one of them. I guess I’m one of those kinds of people. We’re having our fiftieth high school reunion this year; we had around eleven hundred or more people in our class, I think it would be neat to have a book that has every one of our classmates and what happened to them over the years. In any case, I hope that all these people and all these dogs are safe and healthy, or at least had a decent life while they were with us. Not possible for every last one I guess, but still a nice thought at least.

Very little new information in this corner this week, I haven’t seen a current list and I am going by the website’s information and hoping that it is accurate and up to date. I did hear that Slash was adopted this morning and went to his new home riding shotgun in a neat little sports car. Of course he arrived safely; I said he was riding, not driving. I also assume that Sloan passed his home trial, as I have heard nothing to the contrary. I believe this leaves Bella, Max, Rocky, and Lucy and there are a couple of new senior arrivals, hopefully Ms. Michelle will be updating that very soon.

By some miracle I am just about at loss for words. This is good; it’s almost Christmas, so let’s concentrate on enjoying what many consider the best time of year. The modern world is making peace on earth and goodwill towards men a very difficult achievement, hopefully those with that in their hearts will prevail over the evil of the world. Hopefully love will also prevail over hatred and bitterness. Hopefully we can continue to spread love through our greyhounds. Those of us who have them or are around them know that one look into their eyes, or just being around them brings a certain peace of mind, happiness, and calmness. At least it does for me. Have a beautiful Christmas and stay safe if you’re traveling.
