John’s Happy Tales Report
1/18/16 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The FoG Kennel.

The Christmas holidays are over, most of us are back to the regular routine in a brand new year and the dogs are still rolling out at a steady pace. We have a shipment going out to Sunburst around the last week of the month. Thank you to all who helped with the fostering, and a special thanks from Michelle to Scott Bishop, severe cold and all, Maurice Mizrahi, Patrick Sanz, Shawn Campana, and Joy Grosczyk, who took an extra dog in to make room in the kennel when it was needed the most, and also Jerry Berlin, who took in one of the dogs when he wasn’t accepted into one of the foster homes by a current resident. The medical work is done and the paper work is in the process and it looks like a go before the end of the month.

Charlie

As a result of the fostering so far, two of the four boys that were fostered out have now found a new home. Max has just been delivered to his new home in south Dade. He has two new brothers and a big beautiful fenced in yard to play in. He’s been waiting quite a while, so keep your fingers and eyes crossed for him; he deserves a nice home and loving family. We have already received texts and pictures, so he’s started off on the right foot and if all works out as planned it’s going to be greyt for both him and his new family. We wish them all many years of good health and lots of love. Roscoe was also delivered to his new home on Sunday. They were excited to get him. Dad is not (yet) a greyhound enthusiast neither was my wife at first, but she came over to the ‘other side’ with us, and we’re hoping that Rosco and his new family also have many years of good health and a loving relationship. Roscoe’s family’s best friends are former adopters of ours, so they will be able to help with him and his new family.

Dee Dee

Dee Dee

We have only one guy that has spent a little longer than usual waiting for his forever home. Charlie is a no kids, no cats, and no small dogs or animals type, similar to Darth Vader without a helmet. He has certain needs, as we all do, and he would do well in a house with a large yard. He lived for a while with a family that let him run every day in a dog park, but with dog parks sometimes come worms and other diseases, so they discontinued that and he took it to heart. If you like large, strong dogs with loving hearts, but a yearn to fell the wind racing through his nose hair, Charlie is your boy, but it would be best for him to have plenty of room to run, or access to a clean area where he could run frequently. Most people think greyhounds have to have large fenced in areas to run in, but that’s actually the exception, not the rule. Our Diffy, and most others, are very content to get a walk or thirty second romp and then retire to the couch or bed and wait for dinner and a good tv show to fall asleep to. If you are a Charlie dog type person, make sure you check him out; he is overlooked because he requires special attention, and if you can provide it, he will be the love of your life. We also have a ten year old senior girl about to be returned. Her name is Dee Dee, she is currently in a loving home but her human has developed medical problems and is going blind. She will have to give Dee Dee up sooner than later and by putting the word out now, we’re hoping we can get her a new home before she has to be given up for good. Ms. D is a beautiful sexy senior lady, has lived in a house for years, knows all the ropes and is very well behaved. It would be great if we could get her one more forever home where her humans will outlast her and not vice versa. If you have a place in your heart and a spot in your house, please let us know and we can make arrangements for you to meet her. As you already know, or if you don’t, you do now, we are usually able to arrange for you to meet any of our adoptables at your convenience at your house, and you can see them up close and personal and see how they react to your environment. Just contact Jerry or Michelle at the kennel, they can give you all the information up to the minute on who we have available and answer any questions you have about them.

We have some action coming up for the spring. April 3rd will be the Hounds and Horses event. Ren-Fest is coming up from February 13th through March 20th. There will be more information on those as we get closer to the dates. We’re also out the Pet Supermarket on East Sunrise Blvd. every other weekend and this coming weekend is an off weekend I believe.
