John’s Happy Tales Report
11/2/15 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The FoG Kennel.

First order of business for the fabulous month of November is the new edition right on the main page called Dogs 101. It’s a short video about the greyhound, and you can see it on our site or on YouTube. It’s very informative, all about the greyhound in a nutshell. Not anything we don’t already know, but very good for someone who wants to check out a greyhound as a pet.

It’s been a hectic weekend, but in a good way. Lots of action at the kennel, we have four dogs out and adopted or about to be adopted, which is good news for them and it also means there will be new girls and boys coming into the kennel. Max has a new home; he’s going to go live with The Sheas, not of stadium, but of Benny of Ruckus fame. Benny is one of our alumni and if Max can get along with a Chihuahua, it looks like he’s going to have it made in the shade with the Shea. Chloe, our beautiful girl with the busted leg, is going to her new home this week if she isn’t there already. Gunner, a return, has also immediately found a new family. He’s a veteran of home living with other animals, so he should fit in perfectly. Jackson is also out; he’ll be going to live with a Chihuahua too. It must be Chihuahua week. Ms. Luna has an application and is preparing for her life with her new humans. So October went out with a bang and we still have Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up in the near future.

We still have Charlie, Rocky, Kingsley, and Otto waiting patiently for their forever home. Charlie could do well in a home with another dog and a large yard, or access to a place where he could run frequently. This is not the case for most greyhounds, it’s true that they are born to love and love to run, but after racing the majority seem to be completely content with being a lounge scrounge or couch potato and love to sleep in and relax. Charlie still loves to run, so if you can provide that for him, he will be a fantastic companion for you and/or another dog. Rocky is also very outgoing and energetic, would do well in a home with a nice area to run and play and humans that are active. Both these guys are head turners, conversation starters and you can be guaranteed to draw attention when walking with either of them. Kingsley is just the opposite; he’s very shy and quiet. He’s now living in a foster home with other greyhounds and cats and doing a little better every day. Otto is our eleven year old senior citizen. He’s currently being fostered, his chances are slim but you never know. I took in a senior street dog for a year or so. I provided him with a nice clean place to live, three other dog companions, fresh water and food every day, shelter and love. He passed away a year later, but I like to think it made a difference that he got love, peace, and dignity at least for the last year of his life. It made me feel good, so I know there are people out there that do that. Pachino is our newest arrival; he is a return, but only because his owner cannot care for him any longer. I know him personally and he’s a good dog, is accustomed to living in a home and with other dogs. He’s unique in that he has a large scar across his back, and you can learn all about that if you’re interested in him. That’s the current lineup; feel free to contact Michelle or Jerry, on line, via phone, or in person. Interested in meeting one or two of them in person, we can arrange for you to meet them at your house, at your convenience, if you are in the area. Contact Michelle and see if you are in the area, because she has been known to travel a bit. So that’s a little bit on the current lineup, with more coming in very soon.

Don’t forget, we have the Pet Fair at War Memorial Auditorium this weekend, we have a booth and will have a couple animals there, and Jill or someone will be at the Pet Supermarket on East Sunrise Blvd. on Saturday also. Check the website for all the details. I think that’s most of the news that’s fit to print. Have a greyt week, will be back with more good news at the end of next week unless Michelle posts something before I get to it.
