John’s Happy Tails Report
8/19/13 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The Kennel As Viewed From An Authentic Greyhound Owner, An Insider, The Real Deal, A Living, Breathing, Brand New Greyhound Owner. Living, At Least, Until My Better Half Discovers That My Long Legged Friend Has Been Invited To Stay Permanently.

Well, at least wish me congratulations before I join Jimmy Hoffa. Diffy has become a permanent fixture in my house, graduating from the eight year foster program, now becoming a full-fledged pet. I had to option out my youngest son to make room. I will lose and sorely miss his technical assistance in my computer and photography work. I won’t be able to ask Diffy if he won or lost at softball each Tuesday night either. However, I should lose some weight now if I eat with Diffy instead of Paul, so it won’t be a total disaster. As a qualified greyhound owner, you may now ask me any questions you want and I can, with the same confidence, direct you to Jerry, Jerry, Michelle, Chris, or whoever has the answer, just as I’ve always done. Yes, I am very happy and excited. I also hope I’m not writing this from the sidewalk this time next week.

On to the good stuff. Where You At, Wild Bonehead, and Wild Bonehead’s unnamed brother have gone off to the west coast to fosters. They are the beautiful blue, and the two young one year old puppy brothers, so don’t look for them here anymore. BMB Smoke was competing with Dangerous Baby for a new home and won, she got an application and should be delivered within a week or so, when her adopter gets back from vacation. She will have a little Dachshund cousin in her life and it looks like they will get along very well together. At Verdinesjamin was also finally officially adopted, by someone I know very well, and is doing just great in his new digs. I can say that Skate McQueen, now known as Steve, is doing very good also, he stopped in with his human and she says he is adapting very well. He is a beautiful mahogany brindle, the pet life must be really agreeing with him. Pete Pow Wow Ski I believe is also settling in his new home and I believe his real brother, Schick Shaver is getting ready to join him. Our beautiful nine year old AM Ether, aka Willow, is working on a possible hookup with another senior girl who just lost her canine sister, so hopefully they will work out together.

We had a lot of action over the weekend with visitors, especially on Saturday. At least four serious looks, and even people volunteering to work the weekends in the kennel, just to see what the dogs are all about, with an eye towards adopting them in the near future, which is a great approach. You will take a chance of falling in love with one or all of them immediately, but you will also get a chance to see them up close and personal and really be able to make an educated decision as to whether these guys and gals are for you. Our resident shy girl Harris Faulkner, has been joined by her equally shy sister Courtney Friel. It runs in the litter is seems, and both girls are being looked at for adoption by a potential adopter who loves this kind of personality and is willing to work with it. As we always say, there is someone out there for each and every dog and a dog for each and every potential adopter, and we love to put them together.

No returns this week. We still have the Gold Dust twins available for adoption, Dynamic Macy and M’s Pretty Lori, seven and eight years old. They need to go to a home together, they are like two peas in a pod, they are inseparable. They are also well behaved, housebroken, very loving, their only vice is they are not cat tolerant, but that’s ok, a lot of potential adopters don’t have felines. So, if you’re looking for a mature matched set that are about the easiest care load available, check these two out, you just might double your pleasure, they are a joy to be around and watch. We also have one set of brothers left, Superior Shaker and Superior Shyster, mentioned because Pete and Jocco just went to a home together and they are also brothers in real life. This is real life isn’t it?

We’re getting new dogs in every week, all week long. Looking for a big girl? Dangerous Baby might be just for you. She’s sixty five pounds of sexy racing lady, a beautiful white and black ticked sweetie. She was a no nonsense racer, excellent racing career, and from what I’ve seen of her, she’s very playful and full of energy. This girl is three years old, and she did test as cat tolerant. Looking for looking good on the outside? Better check out TMC’s Red Raider, he is stunningly handsome. He’s three years old, a gorgeous white and fawn and even I couldn’t take a bad picture of him. Your best bet, no pun intended, is to come out to the kennel in person and check out our greyt dogs. We’re family friendly, the dogs love company and so do we. We have friendly and knowledgeable staff and volunteers, and if you want your ear talked off, just ask for John, he doesn’t know as much as most of the rest of them but he sure can take a while to tell you about what he does know. It’s also great to see the alumni stop in and visit. This weekend we had MV’s Ragatta, now Clare, drop in for her first return visit. She’s doing excellent and is looking as beautiful as ever. It’s also great to get the emails. Goodtime Jax has made the successful transition to loving pet and is doing wonderful, referred to as ‘their angel’, and Just Before Dawn also had her humans drop a line saying she’s doing beautifully and also looking beautiful. That’s where it ends for this week. That’s why I call it ‘Happy Tales’ because we do have a lot of them. And,,, did I mention it? I have one of my own now!!!!

Cody has a new brother, Backwood Chester. It seems Sue and Steve are poor foster parents and when the time came, just couldn’t give him back. He’s a love, happy, playful, now house broken and just about perfect. Even putting his formerly broken leg down a little more!
