John’s Happy Tails Report
5/5/14 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The Kennel And As Far Away As Tennessee.

Atascocita Joe

Atascocita Joe

Having just arrived back from a nice little vacation in the Carolinas, this will be a shoot from the hip report, since I have nothing but second hand information to work with and have absolutely none of my usual first hand misinformation, so this may be heavily edited by the powers that be to protect the innocent and non-participants. Unfortunately it can’t be all good news so I will start with the information that I just received. I received word that JA’s Timeless, aka Lucy, passed away yesterday. They say there’s only one number one, or first love, and Lucy was mine. When I first came to the kennel she was there, one look into her eyes and I was and am forever in love with her. She had been out twice before to bad homes, and seemed destined never to get back the love that she gave. She was a true sweetheart and it was bittersweet news when I learned she was going to a foster home in Tennessee. I missed her greatly, but she quickly found a real home and spent the last two years of her life knowing that she was truly loved, or at least that’s the story I’m going with. They all leave before we do, so I guess it’s a part of life.

Since I left, a few of the applicants have been delivered; among them are Flying Hoosier and U Haul Mack, who are already in their new home. Runyonland was on home trial and he’s still there, so I’m assuming that’s good news. Atascocita Effie and In The Process went out together and I heard that they are doing wonderful together. Gobie Special is also already in her new home and I don’t even know who she is. Can’t disappear for two weeks around here anymore I guess. Kim’s favorite, Superior Destroy, and Atascocitagabby are adopted and still pending delivery, as is Boyzpoochiemomma. Real Dude I believe is still pending, having a housing problem, but it’s his human, not him, and we hope it works out for them. DKC Jagger got an application this past weekend, but I haven’t heard any details that can be verified, so you’ll have to take my word on all of this as it is glorified gossip.

Atascocita Colin

Atascocita Rake was our only return; I don’t know any of the details on that story yet, hopefully by next week I will be a wealth of information again. We had twenty new dogs make their way into our kennel recently, but I don’t have enough information on them yet, so I won’t detail them. I will mention Atascocita Joe, Jennifer Garner, Atascocita Colin, JN’s Rico Savae, and CRT Vince Vaughn, just to give our webmaster a couple pictures to work with though. I think three of the new dogs are siblings of recent adoptees Miniature Rose and Thatsafact Jack, and I’m anxious to see them because Rose and Jack were real beauties and were adopted out in a heartbeat. There are also two brothers among that new group, for those of you considering bookends. We’ll probably be doing cat testing quickly because there is a shortage of cat tolerant dogs, so there’s almost two dozen new possibilities, better details next week for sure.

I’ve heard several partial stories about how some new adoptees are doing but I have not seen any actual photos or emails, so, it is also just gossip. We’re still hoping to be able to tell you that you can come back inside the kennels, but that hasn’t happened yet. We have the annual Memorial Day party coming up on Saturday the 17th and the collars will be on display again on the fences, over eighteen hundred of them, representing nearly fifteen years of changing lives of dogs and humans for the better. We will also have plenty of food and drinks. You can get all the details from Michelle’s article and I’m sure it’s also all over facebook. Thank you Leslie for keeping up the photos while I was away, and you will see the fruits of her labor if Pet Finder gets its act together. Thank you Julie and Lelys for your work on facebook, Julie has started to post some candid shots of our greys and they are getting a bunch of positive comments, which is always appreciated. Personal thanks to Melissa for sharing the news with me about Lucy, it was not good news, but I appreciate you letting me know, I had planned on trying to see her the next time I went up to Tennessee, I won’t ever see her again but I’m happy that she at least finished out her career in a home, so that will be a comfort for me. I like to pray for homeless people and animals, most of them have no one to pray for them, so why not? So there we have it, all the news that’s fit to print with a lot of the information about some of the goings on at the kennel. Join us next week when we are fully recovered and completely organized, in the meantime, have a greyt week.
