John’s Happy Tails Report
1/6/14 Happy Tales From Inside And Around The Kennel And In The Near Future, From The Doggie Bath Tub.

As we await the first deep freeze of the new year, I hope that in two weeks the weather is greyt for our upcoming Greyhound Wash day, scheduled for Sunday, January 19th, 10 A.M. – 3 P.M. Bring your favorite greyhound out for a wash, ear cleaning, and toe trimming or just a toe trimming. All proceeds go to Friends of Greyhounds. The donation is $20 for a wash, ear cleaning, and nail trimming, $10 if you just want the nails done. This event is for greyhounds only so don’t try to sneak in your SUV or your Chihuahuas, our people can tell the difference. The wash will be provided by our local trainers from the racing kennels, so you will get an excellent and professional job guaranteed.

Acehigh Casino

It was a busy weekend at the kennel, lots of action both good and average. Braska Tootie and Wind Goddess both got applications, and we had several looks which could produce homes In the near future including but not limited to TNJ Taylor, TMC’s Rowdy Boy, Acehigh Casino, who are all part of our semi special needs candidates corps, and several of the girls were seen parading around with potential owners. Latin Angel sent us an email from her new home, she loves the humans, but is not excited as of yet with the snow. Oh yes, some of our adoptees find their way up to the frozen north. Fuzzy’s Bob Dylan and O Ya Shotgun Red were also delivered during the week and we’re hoping to hear from them in the near future.

There were no returns last week and we had three new arrivals, much needed girls. BW’s Fima is a cute little three year old red girl, Greta’s Hotcake raced 162 times , she’s a four year old hot little red, and only one letter away from being Grata’s Hotcake, and I’d take her in a Brooklyn minute. Astarsweetandhot is a two year old youngster, she’s brindle and hot, as are all our girls. Puppy people may want to check out our new brother sister act, Acehigh Casino and Acehigh Jessie, a big boy and a big girl. Neither raced professionally and I met Casino, we call him Dude, and he is going to make someone very, very happy, that is a guarantee from myself and kennel manager Chris. We just did the photos on the dozen that arrived last weekend, so they aren’t up yet, but more than half were girls. The only thing that we’re currently having a premium on right now is the cat tolerants, so you cat people will be a little more restricted, but we have about twenty that will be tested as soon as we can negotiate the contract with the cat, and we’re hopeful that we’ll get a bunch of ‘just say yes to cats’ out of the new bunch. Before I forget, I also got a chance to visit up close and personal with another of our special needs guys, Turbo Sean. He is reportedly crate aggressive, which means you don’t want to enter his crate without his permission. He may just need some TLC, as we did some walking and talking last weekend and he is a beautiful dog. He is very gentle and he sticks close to you and clings to your every word. He may just need someone he can learn to trust and he will be one mighty fine friend for the right human for the next decade or so.

I’ve finally managed to try to carry around a pen and paper with me so I can write down things and help me actually remember more than two percent of what I experience. TNJ Tabasco dropped in for a visit, he’s still in great shape and as handsome as ever. Ginger also came out to the play yard, racing name not written down and has something to do with Fine Line but can’t locate it. She’s also doing very well and looking extremely fit. Didn’t write down the white one either, I know he was coming out to run around, and he did everything but that. His humans are old time Hialeah people and so are his grandparents, but his name escapes me now. Ok, I’m just starting the pen and paper thing, so it will take some practice. In any case, we all love to see the alumni come out, so if you get a chance, stop in and say hello any weekend you can, it will give you a reason to take your dogs for a ride and they’ll love you for it. Ok, have a greyt week, I’m looking forward to meeting another Italian Greyhound and a Beagle, both are hopefully coming back next weekend to possibly choose one of our adoptees for their new big brother or big sister. Have a great week, stay safe and warm, and get ready for the bath fest.
