>Update on Dennis Hickson & his dogs. . .
Dennis’ dogs, Buddy, Ruby and Orbit, have come back to Friends of Greyhounds and amazingly enough, they probably already have a home. We have someone special who wants all three PLUS Louetta (our black brood mom) but they won’t be able to go to their new home until the end of the year. I’m going to try not to talk about this too much for fear of jinxing it but we will certainly do a big story on the delivery when it happens. We introduced the three dogs to Louetta at the kennel on Tuesday and the results were heartwarming. They all got along like a group of old friends. If you’d like to see the photos we took of the day, click here.

In the meantime, we’d like not to put these house dogs back into the kennel. We’d like to foster them with someone. Steve Holloway who manages our Petco Plantation booth is taking care of Orbit. Ruby will go home on Saturday with Lisa McKenna and if she gets along with her pack of greyhounds, whippett and IG, she’ll stay there. We still need a spot for Buddy. Is it with you? If so, please call me. Don’t worry, he’ll stay here at my house if he has to. But we’d rather he was someplace a little less busy and where he can get some one-on-one attention.

One of our adopter volunteers, upon hearing that the three dogs may have found a home together so quickly, said that she figured Dennis started working on that project the minute he got up there. I’ll bet that’s the absolute truth. I sure don’t know any other way it could have happened.

FoG is planning to host a memorial for Dennis but since there is so much going on right now and since much of Dennis’ family is out of town, we’ve elected to do a more organized, appropriate gathering in January. We’re still reeling from the surprise of all this ourselves. We think we’ll do something at Heritage Park in Plantation but we’re still working on the date and details. I’ll let you know.

    >HI, THIS IS LISA MCKENNA. WELL, AS USUAL, I TRIED TO LOOK AT THE OTHER PHOTOS. AS USUAL, NO LUCK! I HAVE TRIED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TO SEE PICTURES, BUT GETTING INTO THAT WALGREENS SITE ( FOR ME) IS AS BAD AS GETTING INTO FORT KNOX! I HAVE TRIED MANY, MANY TIMES. I GIVE UP. CAN’T THEY JUST BE SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE? HUH?HUH? TO TINA, DENNIS’S SISTER- I WILL MISS DENNIS SOOOOO MUCH. HIS GIRL, RUBY, WAS THE ONE OTHER DOG I CHOSE TO TAKE HOME 4 YEARS AGO. SO, I WILL BE PROUD TO CARE FOR HER UNTIL SHE GOES TO HER GREAT NEW HOME. I HAVEN’T SLEPT WELL SINCE I HEARD OF THE ACCIDENT. HOW ELSE CAN I HELP THE FAMILY? MICHELLE CAN PUT YOU IN TOUCH WITH ME.

    >Tina here sister of Dennis. I am so happy about the dogs possiblity of staying together, it is the best news I have had. We spent some time with them and Dennis end of October and they are wonderful dogs. I hope for good fostering and a good home for them and I know dennis is working on it
