John’s Happy Tales Report
11/27/17 Mostly Happy Tales From Inside And Around The FoG Kennel.

PJ (Kelly)

All the wagging tails and the entire staff of the almost world-famous FoG kennel hope that you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving and long weekend that followed. The hounds ate well and so did we, the only thing better would be seeing them all in a real home before Christmas. What better holiday gift than one that keeps on giving for years afterwards. No, I don’t mean a pregnant cat, we’re talking about love here, most greyhounds have large hearts filled with an abundance of love and we have six of them currently that have their bags already packed and are ready to enter the second part of their life, the part where they live happily ever after in their loving forever home. Thanksgiving has passed, but we still have Christmas and New Year’s and what a delightful surprise it would be to find a greyhound under the tree on Christmas morning. You don’t have to actually wrap it and hope it stays under the tree, but Michelle has delivered several hounds as gifts on Christmas’ past and it sure beats trying to shop down here without being mauled, maimed, or even worse during the season, so you might want to consider it, Christmas is only about four weeks away. We will be glad to deliver your hound on just about any occasion, Birthday, New Year’s, Hanukkah, Boxing Day (whatever that is), just about any special day.

On the kennel front, it’s been a lot like the night before Christmas, nothing stirring, not even a mouse. No one going out last week, no one coming in. If you can, check the website, we have posted a Christmas Wish List for all the items that we could use, the kennel is smaller than it used to be, but we still go through all the items that we did in the past, and the hounds still have the same needs. So, if the FoG kennel is on your gift list, check out the website and you will find all kinds of ideas and items for our hounds in need.

The past few weeks we’ve had a couple of nice gatherings and this trend will continue for the near future I am told. Next Sunday we will be back at the Dog Dude Ranch, in the large front corral again. I just got gassed, thanks Creepy or Diffy, the hours will be from 10 A.M. until 1 o’clock again and the address and all the information are on the website. We will be one of only four groups invited to the Adopt a Pet Party in Parkland at the Parkland Equestrian Center the following Saturday, December 9th and we’ll have a flyer on that posted very soon according to the powers that be. The following day Sunday, December 10th, we’re trying to set up a gathering at the Flamingo Road Nursery, but that hasn’t been etched in stone yet, will let you know as soon as I find out or check the website. It doesn’t have to be official with me, I love the BBQ there, I can go there officially or unofficially any time, but it’s only open on the weekends I think.

In the spirit of holiday shopping, Michelle will have with her at these events, an assortment of goodies including greyhound coats, collars, leashes, and miscellaneous items for your hounds stocking stuffers. Don’t forget, if you are traveling this holiday season, especially up north, make sure you have a coat for your dog and be SURE you have ID tags on the collar. One more item, which I hope will make it into our Letters From Home section if it isn’t already there (the updated, just in last week version) if I can get Michelle or Jerry B. our very excellent webmaster, to put it in there. Anyway, I am only going to put in the beginning and the end, but hopefully by the time you see this it will be in the Letters section, there is an old one there from February, but this one is from last week. Anyway, anyway, the beginning is For those of you who have been active with the dogs for a while, you may remember a petrified black dog named Darla. She worked her way through two homes and then she sat in our kennels for a while. She was afraid of everything and did not seem to want human contact. WELL

Dear Michelle,
As Thanksgiving gets closer I thought it would be nice to update you on how Shadow is doing. She has turned into a very talkative playful dog in fact she jumps up on me when I come home from the store. She’s even started giving kisses to my son and loves to run around the dog run. Shadow’s also started giving kisses to visitors. I just wanted to let you know that she’s turning into a really remarkable dog and we’re very blessed that we adopted her from you.

Ok, that’s the short version, but we’re so happy for that girl, she was special or borderline special needs and bloomed late, but quite a success story in the end. Ok, that’s enough, they’re going to cut my pay if I put down too much, so we will stop here for this week. Have a greyt week, keep your hounds safe, and don’t bite anyone.
