Welcome to Friends of Greyhounds
Please join us on Saturday, May 25 for our Memorial Day party.
We will have some hot dogs and pulled pork and whatnot and lots of greyhounds to visit with.
If you’d like to bring a dish for the table, please do but it is not required.
Lynne Noble, The Collar Lady, will be there with all of her collars.
Welcome and thank you for visiting our site. Based in South Florida, Friends of Greyhounds is a non-profit (501c3) corporation whose mission is to provide retired racing greyhounds with a caring environment and loving homes and to educate the public about these noble, loyal dogs. We are a final ray of hope for greyhounds that have no place to go after they retire from racing.
If you are in the area, please take a ride down and see the greys at our weekly open house at our shelter in Hialeah where you can get to know the greyhounds that are available for adoption and ask our knowledgeable volunteers any questions you may have. We’ve placed retired greyhounds in great homes in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano, Coral Gables, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Delray Beach and everywhere in between and we’re very proud of the work we do. Remember you don’t have to own a greyhound to volunteer. Come for a visit and get to know us.
If you would like to volunteer or have something you’d like to donate, please contact us.

“I don’t drink beer very often, but when I do, it’s usually after a spirited game of iguana tug-of-war with my sister Lizzy.” A prospective beer commercial setting for our friend Trent after last Saturday’s second iguana incident in a month. We roll into May, a week removed from last weekend’s superb Seafood Festival and [...]
Publix is celebrating National Pet Month. The dog in their emailed advertisement is a greyhound!
If the less I have to report ends up having me write more than usual, then having a ton of stuff to report will end up with a shorter blog, will that hold true? We’ll see at the end of the blog. The last weekend in April went out with a bang. A beautiful weekend [...]
Here we are again, the second attempt to cover the weekend kennel activities from afar, as I was in Eustis, Florida over the weekend promoting our beautiful animals while I was attending a mini school reunion with about thirty or forty fantastic people, mostly from our Thoroughbred class of ’65 who had gone to school [...]
