| We are a final ray of hope for greyhounds that have no place to go after they retire from racing. Originally founded in Sunrise, Florida (in Broward County, just west of Ft. Lauderdale), Friends of Greyhounds adopts to qualified adopters throughout the South Florida area. In 2002 we were offered use of an adoption kennel in Hialeah, in northern Miami-Dade County. We hold our open houses there every weekend as well as at Boss, The Pet Connection in Broward. We also try to work festivals and events in Delray Beach and Boca Raton in Palm Beach County as well as in Broward and Miami-Dade. In 2003 we were pleased to launch a southern group in Monroe County to service the Florida Keys. We have placed dogs all the way from Key West to Key Largo! Dont you love that photo? This one is relaxing in North Lauderdale. We hope all our dogs will end up that happy. Because we require a home visit (we deliver the dog to your home) our reach is limited, so if you're not in the South Florida area, we suggest you check out the other wonderful greyhound adoption groups listed at adopt-a-greyhound.org. If you are in the area, please take a ride down and see the greys at our weekly open house at our kennel in Hialeah where you can get to know the greyhounds that are available for adoption and ask our knowledgeable volunteers any questions you may have. We've placed retired greyhounds in great homes in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano, Coral Gables, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Delray Beach and everywhere in between and we're very proud of the work we do. Remember you dont have to own a greyhound to volunteer. Come for a visit and get to know us. If you would like to volunteer or have something you'd like to donate, please contact us. We are real people and would love to speak with you. We will always respond although sometimes we do get busy and you may need to be patient with us. We hope you will visit us regularly and watch our site and our organization grow. | |
